May 4, 2021

The partnership will see Surfing New Zealand personnel traveling the length and breadth of the country in Volkswagen Amarok V6 utes.

Volkswagen says the new vehicle supply agreement furthers the brand’s involvement in surfing and surf culture, which dates back to the classic Beetle and Kombi representing freedom and the ability to explore beaches and breaks not just in New Zealand, but all over the world.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles New Zealand has announced it will be partnering as the official vehicle supplier for Surfing New Zealand.

Delivering nationwide initiatives from community projects through to domestic and international events, the team at Surfing New Zealand will now be travelling to regions far and wide in the Amarok V6 ute.

“The nature of surfing sees our community traversing the country in search of waves and prime weather conditions” said Surfing New Zealand General Manager, Ben Kennings.

“Our initiatives are no different with events, learn to surf programmes, development courses and camps plus community activities staged from Northland to Otago. To be able to team up with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, who will help us get around our coastline, is amazing.”

Volkswagen has long been synonymous with surfing culture both in New Zealand and Worldwide dating back to the 60s with the iconic Kombi and Beetle.

The Volkswagen fleet now includes the likes of the popular Amarok V6 which will be used by Surfing New Zealand, through to the much-loved California camper which like the Kombi brings the freedom of exploring to life.

“The local surfing community plays a big role in generating passion for the sport. We are excited to be able support local kiwis on the New Zealand surfing stage” says Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles General Manager Kevin Richards. “As a brand with an appetite for exploring and freedom on the road, partnering with Surfing New Zealand will help us continue that historical journey”.
